Simple Treasures for Sale New Years Resolutions

As I am sure you are doing this time a year I am doing some planning for the new year.   I have come up with the following New Years Business Resolutions that I am going to do my best to see through.

1.  Work on lowering shipping prices
I understand that no one likes to pay shipping.  I myself find it difficult to pay shipping on things I order online.I pledge to do my best to lower my cost on the shipping I pay so that I can pass the savings onto you.  Hopefully in the end I would like to offer free shipping to everyone and still keep the prices low on the products.

2.  Work on quality of photos for website
I am most certainly not  a professional photographer.   I have learned a little and hopefully will expand on what I have learned to improve the quality of the photos on the website.

3.  Work on expanding makeup lines
I would like to expand on the items I sell in the makeup section of the website.  From time to time I may be asking for everyone’s input in order to keep the options fresh and so that there is something for everyone.

4.  Work on expanding products for men
While working with Bradley University it was pointed out several times that the website doesn’t offer enough items for men.   I plan on working towards expanding that section of the website as well.   From time to time I may be asking for everyone’s input on different ideas of what everyone would like to see.

I am always open to anyone’s input so if there is something you would like to see let me know and I will see what I can do to accommodate you.

Year End Reflection

As I am sure everyone has noticed 2019 has been a very busy and active year for Simple Treasures.   We have done our best to but our best foot forward and stay true to our core values.

  1. A commitment to integrity, fairness and responsibility
  2. Delivering our very best in all we do, holding ourselves accountable for results.

In 2019 we implemented several new ways of communication.  Not all have come easily for us and we have had some bumps along the way.  Some examples are listed below.

  1. Weekly newsletter
  2.  Instagram Stories
  3.  Facebook Stories
  4. Posted new products on twitter
  5. Text message advertising
  6. Google My Business
  7. Holiday Flash Sales
  8. Facebook Messenger New Product Alerts
  9. Billboards

We have tried to send some interesting information in our weekly emails instead of constantly pushing for sales.  Not sure if we have succeeded with this but it was never our goal to be pushy.   We have only wanted to interact with our customers.

Along with our trying to provide information in a fun and informative way we have also tried to gather input from our current customers on what they wanted to see on the website.   We have set out to accomplish this 2 different ways.

        1.  Survey Monday Email
        2.  Bradley University Case Study

The information we received back has been invaluable and we can’t express enough our thanks to those who completed the survey.   We also want to thank the students at Bradley University for the case study they completed.   We hope to make several more improvements in 2020 as a result from that case study.

In the end we are very thankful for the opportunities that 2019 has brought to us and look forward to see what new things to come in 2020.

What are the top fall beauty trends for 2019?

1. Splashes of Makeup on Face

The avant-garde option for the fall/ winter 2019 makeup trends was a little bit creepy and very post-apocalyptic. Models’ faces were splashed with paint in a way that created an otherworldly and intimidating effect.

2. Barely-There Makeup

A no-makeup makeup look is a runway classic, intended to enhance models’ beauty without interfering, and to allow the audience to really focus on the clothes presented. Keeping things simple is perfectly acceptable, according to the fall/ winter 2019 makeup trends.

3. Blushing
This might be the most youthful of the fall/ winter 2019-2020 makeup trends. A touch of pinky blush is the easiest way to liven up the complexion and soften the face, so the runways where it showed up were definitely ones where innocence and purity were part of the aesthetic.

4. Bronzed Goddess

It’s hard to resist a bronzed goddess, especially when everyone else is looking pale and cold, which is why the runways where bronzer was used liberally really stood out to us, even though the rest of the makeup was kept understated.

5. Dewy Skin

The skin can get so dry and dull during winter, when there’s no moisture in the air and cold winds assault our faces. No wonder that designers and makeup artists alike wanted to go in the opposite direction, to show beautifully glow and hydrated skin that won’t get damaged by inclement weather. Notably missing from this trend: shimmery highlighters. This healthy glow is all about moisture.

6. Sparkle and Glitter
It’s fun to use a bit of glitter in your makeup look now and then, but for the fall 2019 makeup looks makeup artists went way above that, opting for lots of glitter rather than a subtle touch.

TOP 10 MAKE UP MISTAKES

Here are the top 10 make up mistakes women frequently make when applying their make up in order to look beautiful whenever they appear in the general public.

1. WAXING GONE WRONG

Most of the times when you wax or pluck your eyebrows, you don’t want to over pluck. It will create an impression when people see you that you are hairier than you really are and that you need to wax constantly.

2. NOT CURLING YOUR EYELASHES

Most people feel this isn’t important. Nothing is really important. But if you actually intend to use mascara for the original purpose and way it was intended to, then buy a lash curler, and curly your eyelashes.

3. BLOTCHY MAKE UP ON A BARE FACE

Another reason why your make up can look blotchy is because human skin is made up of natural oils. Failure to apply blush without applying foundation or powder underneath, don’t expect it to last for more than a few hours.

4. APPLYING MATTLE LIPSTICK WRONGLY

An attempt to apply a mattle lipstick on your lips without moistening your lips first is wrong. It looks bad. Don’t do it.

5. SMOKING

Make up always look better when applied to a healthy face. Smoking while you have makeup on your face tends to dry off faster than coffee, sun or wind.

6. WRONG FOUNDATION

There are so many brands of foundation nowadays all claiming to do amazing things and the end results are very bad.

7. NOT ADAPTING TO YOUR EYE

You not expected to wear the same type of make up when you were 16 years and now that you are 60.

8. ABUSE OF BRIGHT COLOR

Bright colors are always amazing during summer and spring. Always remember that bright colors attract attention.

9. NOT BLENDING

Just as human cells are the blocks and foundation of human life, blending is also the base and foundation of makeup. Ensure you blend your concealer, blush, foundation, eye shadow and setting powders.

10. NOT BLOTTING LIPSTICKS

Failure to blot the center of your lips, either by rubbing off excess with your finger, or gentling biting down on a tissue, then you run the risk of having the lipstick stain your teeth every time you smile wide or attempt to eat something.

What does your choice of nail polish say about you?

Are you a sexy red? Or a demure ballet pink? Or maybe a bold and daring black? Fact is that whether they’re glammed up with sparkly polish or left unadorned, nails can tell a lot about a person.

Try to remember for a moment, what’s your instant assessment when you see someone wearing black nail polish? Now do you see my point? And does it make you wonder exactly what secrets your own nails are spilling?

Here’s the scoop from the color psychologygeniuses over at Pantone, who explain how your choice of nail polish could be making that first impression for you.

Red

Red nail polish is the ultimate statement of glamour – a bold, look-at-me colour that speaks of passion, fire and confidence. It marks you out as someone who is daring, dramatic, outgoing and doesn’t shy away from the spotlight. Play with this hue when you want to show off your diva side!

Orange

This cheerful tropical color is popular amongst women who are bubbly, creative and love the warmth of summer. They are generous, make friends easily and are first in line for any kind of fun outing.

Yellow

Yellow is associated with the sun and warmth. Plus, it’s impossible to ignore. Women who accessorize with punchy yellow nail polish tend to be spontaneous, extroverted and bohemian, with a unique sense of style.

Lavender

Softer shades of purple, such as lavender and lilac, are graceful and collected – pointing towards a personality that’s feminine without being overtly girly.

Purple

Creative people are drawn to this complex combination of blue and red – wearing it on your nails shows that you are confident, artistic, individualistic and not afraid to stand out from the crowd.

Pale pink

Soft pink nails belong to someone who is quiet (or doesn’t want to stand out) and youthful without being cutesy. Women who opt for this hue are impeccably groomed, making this the perfect color for svelte career professionals.

Hot pink

Chic, sexy, bold and playful… hot pink is associated with fun and spontaneity. You have to be a confident soul to wear this feminine color as it’s bold and eye-catching.

Burgundy

Deep and dark, like the wine for which it’s named, burgundy nail polish is chic, trendy and indicative of an edgy personality that appreciates a good challenge.

Green

Going “green” with your nail polish exudes earthiness and spunk. It is a strong color and has a lot of power, making it the top choice for women who have a sense of adventure and don’t shy away from risky choices.

Blue

Forget any tranquil associations – when worn as a nail polish, blue is not for the faint of heart. It’s fun and experimental, giving the impression that you live an adrenaline-filled lifestyle full of constant excitement. In short, blue nail polish tells the world that you are youthful, fun and willing to try new things.

Neon

Rocking a neon hue is a good sign that you’re up for a good time. You are hip, vivacious, energetic and talkative with a “life is too short” attitude. You are the life of the party and strike up conversations with strangers – probably while dancing the night away in a cool nightclub.

Nude

Suntanned taupe and nudes are for clean-cut, beachy girls (hello Jennifer Aniston!) who are glamorous yet secure enough not to follow every trend. Pretty and polished, they are feminine without being high maintenance.

Dark brown

A deep and rich color, dark brown indicates boldness and authority. It is also the signature of a woman who is earthy and energetic, given it’s associations with Mother Nature.

Black

This dark and stormy color reflects a daring, “don’t mess with me” femme fatale who is a trendsetter and doesn’t care what anyone else is doing. And no, wearing black nail polish doesn’t mean you are depressed or going goth: rather, it’s a way of rebelling against the norm and showing some of the darkness in your personality.

Gray

If your color palette contains hues of grays you are the quintessential modernist: cultured, well read, androgynous and cool fashion maven.

White

The chic one: you are classic and confident, know what you like and no one can change your mind. You also don’t want to be bothered by chipped nails.

French manicure

A classic French manicure reveals a glamorously conservative side. You don’t need a whole new color: your nails look good as they are, and you simply emphasis and define yourself.

Gold

This neutral-but-not color is for the woman who is glamorous, fashion forward and knows how to mix couture pieces with the high street. A true style maven!

Glitter

Blinged-out nail polish is the playing ground of glamour girls like Katy Perry – even if real diamonds are out of the question, nails can still look decadent enough to break the bank.

Chrome

Chrome nails are for an iron maiden who isn’t afraid of anything. She’ll save herself from the tower, thank you very much!

Duo-chrome

This futuristic two-tone look indicates a person who’s way ahead of her time and loves technological advancements. Their curiosity and love of learning leads them to find the latest invention – whether for smartphones or nail polish.

Nail wraps

Adorning your nails with funkily designed wraps tells others that you are trendy, fashionable and fun. Oh, and you want attention!

Painted designs

Intricate nail art tells the story of a free spirit who has a creative imagination and is a risk taker. She isn’t afraid to experiment and embraces change.

Clear

They call you “au naturel” because you don’t have time to have it any other way. You are too busy to play with color. And you don’t need a whole new color: your nails look good as they are!

What color nail polish are you? I’m personally a french manicure girl.
