What are the benefits to using products with essential oils?

Essential oils are mixes extracted from plants. The oils catch the plant’s aroma and flavor, or “embodiment.” There are more than 90 types of essential oils, each having its own unique smell and properties to nourish your skin or hair. Here’s a list of some popular essential oils and the health claims belongs to them:

How essential oils work?
Essential oils are most commonly used in the practice of aromatherapy, in which they are inhaled through various methods. Essential oils are not meant to be swallowed. The chemicals in essential oils can interact with your body in several ways. When applied to your skin, some plant chemicals are absorbed. It’s thought that certain application methods can improve absorption, such as applying with heat or to different areas of the body
Essential oils for easing stress:

Year End Reflection

As I am sure everyone has noticed 2019 has been a very busy and active year for Simple Treasures.   We have done our best to but our best foot forward and stay true to our core values.

  1. A commitment to integrity, fairness and responsibility
  2. Delivering our very best in all we do, holding ourselves accountable for results.

In 2019 we implemented several new ways of communication.  Not all have come easily for us and we have had some bumps along the way.  Some examples are listed below.

  1. Weekly newsletter
  2.  Instagram Stories
  3.  Facebook Stories
  4. Posted new products on twitter
  5. Text message advertising
  6. Google My Business
  7. Holiday Flash Sales
  8. Facebook Messenger New Product Alerts
  9. Billboards

We have tried to send some interesting information in our weekly emails instead of constantly pushing for sales.  Not sure if we have succeeded with this but it was never our goal to be pushy.   We have only wanted to interact with our customers.

Along with our trying to provide information in a fun and informative way we have also tried to gather input from our current customers on what they wanted to see on the website.   We have set out to accomplish this 2 different ways.

        1.  Survey Monday Email
        2.  Bradley University Case Study

The information we received back has been invaluable and we can’t express enough our thanks to those who completed the survey.   We also want to thank the students at Bradley University for the case study they completed.   We hope to make several more improvements in 2020 as a result from that case study.

In the end we are very thankful for the opportunities that 2019 has brought to us and look forward to see what new things to come in 2020.

Bath & Body Works Lotion Vs Body Cream

It’s said that oil and water don’t mix, but when it comes to understanding the differences between body lotion and body cream, the mixture of oil and water is the most important part. Each type of moisturizer has its own special composition and its own special set of benefits.

Body cream and body lotion are both used to prevent dry, cracked skin and keep it supple and moisturized. Lotions and creams contain both an oily agent, or phase, and a watery agent. Both help replenish oil in the skin and protect against loss of moisture.

Body Cream
Body cream is heavier and contains a higher viscosity, or sticky mixture of water and oil. According to SkinCarePhysician.com, creams penetrate the skin and provide a barrier that prevents more moisture loss from the skin than lotion. Creams, however, tend to feel greasier. A pharmaceutical or dermatology cream is usually an even mixture of 50 percent oil and 50 percent water. However, the ratio of water and oil in cosmetic cream and lotion varies and is also affected by other ingredients, such as paraffin. Because body cream is thicker, it is usually sold in a tub or jar container.

Lotion
Body lotions are not as sticky and are more readily absorbed by the skin because they have a lower viscosity than body creams. This form of moisturizer usually has a higher water content, comes in a bottle and can be poured out in a liquid form. Lotion is good for skin that is not excessively dry or when it is preferable not to have a sticky, greasy feeling on the skin.
